Position Overview
With growing demand for granular data in our platform this role will try to get ahead of client demands by keeping cloud/AI usage costs in check and project capacity under multiple scenarios. It will sit at the intersection of engineering/planning and vendor strategy and use historical patterns - query volume/client consumption and platform activity to anticipate growth and demand before it becomes a bottleneck, as well as identify waste and potential improvement opportunities in existing flows.
Responsibilities
- Model client growth trajectories and translate them into infrastructure/capacity scaling scenarios
- Monitor API/AI agent usage across platform new initiatives (internal/external dataset usage patterns, flush out future client needs, assist in dataset knowledgebase creation)
- Monitor and optimize query performance across Trino, Spark SQL, and BigQuery; track query cost trends over time
- Own product analytics reporting — usage, utilization, and growth
- Track and reconcile usage across AWS, GCP, and AI/ML tooling; flag anomalies and cost overruns
- Partner with engineering and product on DB scaling decisions driven by client demand
- Maintain documentation on query optimization wins, capacity thresholds, and vendor contract utilization
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years in a data/analytics, capacity planning, or BI role
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics or related field
- Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Finance and Sales teams
Preferred skills:
- Hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery, GCP Billing console, cost monitoring)
- Strong SQL skills required; experience with Trino and/or BigQuery required
- Tableau or Looker for self-serve dashboards and operational reporting: BI Tools
- Ability to independently scope and execute analytical work end-to-end
- Strong communication skills — able to translate technical findings to non technical stake holders
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits (optimization logs, vendor summaries, model assumptions)
- Prior vendor contract negotiation or procurement experience a plus
- Experience with db context management platforms (datahub, contextdata, etc.)
Time zone:
- 9am-6pm ET preferred
- We are open to hiring this as hybrid in our Newark office (283-299 Market Street, 4th Floor, Newark, NJ 07102) or fully remote; in-office strongly preferred
