About Us: When someone is out of work with a serious injury or illness, the last thing they need is a claims process that's slow, confusing, or unfair. That's what EvolutionIQ is here to fix.

EvolutionIQ builds AI that helps insurance claims teams handle claims more accurately, fairly, and efficiently, so more people impacted by injury or illness can get back to their lives with dignity and stability. As part of CCC Intelligent Solutions (NASDAQ: CCC), we pair AI-native product development with something almost no one else in this market has: 40 years of proprietary data and deep relationships with the largest, most complex carriers in the world. It's a rare combination, and it's what lets us build products others can't.

Our people come first, and we think it shows. We've been named one of Inc.'s Best Workplaces three years running, plus Built In's Best Places to Work in 2025 and 2026.

Your Impact: This is a hands-on Staff Engineer role that impacts a whole business. You'll help architect systems and set the engineering best practices others build on, think hard about where and how to bring AI to bear (the right tools, in the right systems, at the right time), and write the code that turns those decisions into value for our customers.

There's serious architecture in this work: assessing complex, sometimes messy legacy platforms, deciding what to keep, rebuild, or replace, and setting the technical direction. And there's serious coding: building the production systems that direction turns into, and prototyping new ideas from scratch. The two reinforce each other, and we're looking for someone who wants both the architectural judgment and the daily craft of writing excellent code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect systems and write the code that makes them real, bringing EvolutionIQ's AI-native products into CCC's auto casualty business
  • Dig into complex, sometimes messy legacy systems; decide what to rebuild, replace, or keep; and drive that work hands-on
  • Build backend architectures that hold up in production, moving between fast prototypes and stable, long-lived systems, with AI and agentic tools core to how you work
  • Set the engineering standard (best practices, design docs, code reviews, consistency) in close partnership with Product, Data Science, and Data Engineering

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of engineering experience, with a track record of owning features end to end: partnering with Product, scoping, designing data models, implementing, and living with the system long-term
  • A strong hands-on coder in our stack: Python primarily, with TypeScript / JavaScript across the front end
  • Deep architectural experience with existing systems, not just greenfield: evaluating, modernizing, and replatforming, including multi-tenant, multi-user backends and solid relational database design
  • Experienced with AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools, and can point to real work you've shipped faster because of them
  • Ask the right questions to understand a customer's business problem, and connect your technical work to business impact
  • A crisp communicator with the emotional intelligence to build trust across teams

Nice to Have:

  • Experience across both startups or scale-ups and larger enterprises, which mirrors the EvolutionIQ-into-CCC nature of this work
  • Familiarity with insurance, claims, or the auto casualty space

Work-life, Culture & Perks:

  • Compensation: The base salary range is $245-270K, with flexibility depending on a candidate’s background and experience. An annual bonus plan and company equity plan (RSUs) are also included in our generous compensation package.
  • Well-Being: Medical, dental, vision, short & long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D, and 401k matching. Additional family, wellness, and pet benefits.
  • Home & Family: Paid time off and sick leave, 100% paid parental leave (16 weeks for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers). We offer a flexible schedule for new parents returning to work.
  • Office Life: Catered lunches, happy hours, pet-friendly spaces, and monthly technology stipend.
  • Growth & Training: $1,000/year for each employee for professional development, as well as opportunities for tuition reimbursement.
  • Sponsorship: We are open to sponsoring candidates currently in the U.S. who need to transfer their active visa.

EvolutionIQ appreciates your interest in our company as a place of employment. EvolutionIQ is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
