Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for Alternative Markets, establishing long-term priorities and business strategies aligned with Crawford’s overall objectives. Lead the development and execution of strategies designed to strengthen market position, drive profitable growth, and optimize business performance across alternative market segments.
  • Evaluate market dynamics, industry trends, competitive activity, client needs, and emerging opportunities to identify areas for expansion, investment, differentiation, and capability development. Translate market insights into strategic initiatives and recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Drive growth and business performance across Alternative Markets by partnering with business, sales, operations, and other functional leaders to establish priorities, evaluate opportunities, and execute initiatives that support revenue growth, profitability, client retention, and long-term value creation.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, prospects, industry partners, and other external stakeholders. Serve as a senior executive representative of Crawford and trusted advisor to clients, leveraging market and business insights to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for growth and expanded partnerships.
  • Provide leadership and direction across Alternative Markets, aligning senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders around strategic priorities. Sponsor initiatives that strengthen organizational capabilities, improve collaboration, and position the business to effectively respond to evolving client and market requirements.
  • Evaluate the performance and strategic positioning of alternative market segments and capabilities, utilizing financial, operational, market, and client information to assess results, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend changes to business priorities or investment strategies.
  • Provide regular strategic and business performance updates to executive leadership, including market developments, performance against strategic objectives, significant opportunities and risks, and recommendations regarding the future direction of Alternative Markets.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field.  
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, alternative markets, insurance, claims, risk management, professional services, or a related industry, including significant senior leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing business and market strategies that have resulted in sustainable growth, improved profitability, enhanced market position, or expansion of organizational capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex businesses, market segments, strategic portfolios, or large-scale strategic initiatives with significant organizational and financial impact.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership and senior functional and business leaders to establish strategic priorities, evaluate business opportunities, and drive execution across multiple areas of an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining executive-level client and external stakeholder relationships and using market insights to identify opportunities for business growth and differentiation.
  • Exceptional executive leadership and strategic planning capabilities, with the ability to establish a long-term vision and translate strategy into measurable business results.
  • Strong understanding of alternative markets, insurance, claims, risk management, and related industry dynamics, including emerging market trends and evolving client needs.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate market opportunities, business performance, investments, risks, and strategic alternatives.
  • Strong market orientation with the ability to identify opportunities for growth, differentiation, capability expansion, and competitive advantage.
  • Exceptional relationship management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively engage executive leadership, senior clients, business partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and influence across complex organizational structures and align multiple businesses, functions, and senior stakeholders around common strategic objectives.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex financial, operational, competitive, and market information into actionable strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, anticipate changes in the marketplace, and establish priorities that balance near-term business performance with long-term strategic objectives.
