QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must live in or near Chicago, IL.
  • 10+ years of experience delivering large-scale IT solutions.
  • 2 to 5 years of previous leadership/management experience required.
  • 25%–50% travel may be required within the Illinois territory.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, thought leadership, mentorship, and the ability to translate complex IT architectures into easily understood and consumable solutions are required.
  • Comfortable owning direct relationships with OEM partners and operating as an equal business partner to Sales leadership.

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $170,000 to $215,000 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. This position is also eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay range.

World Wide Technology, Inc. has an opportunity available for a Systems Engineering Manager (SEM) to support our Illinois enterprise sales team. This position is responsible for leading and developing a team of experienced consultative engineers in designing, developing, enhancing, and delivering the "right fit" IT solutions to WWT's Illinois customer base, leveraging consultative skills to create new opportunities and customers, all while continuing to recruit, develop, and retain top talent using WWT Core Values and the Solutions Engineering mission and vision as our foundation to grow upon.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical strategy, goals, and plans for your team's success and contribute to the organization's overall strategy, plans, and technology direction.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Services, and Consulting Systems Engineers to define strategic technical plans and align/partner with the right key OEMs to solve customer problems.
  • Identify trade-offs between short- and long-term gains by having a deep understanding of customer needs and technical choices.
  • Help the team solve conflicting priorities and make timely, effective decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong management skills and drive results within the team, including weekly team meetings and at minimum monthly one-on-ones with each direct report, supplemented by spot coaching as needed.
  • Oversee the presales process and help drive effective communication between Sales, Professional Services, and Global SME Teams.
  • Recruit, hire, and effectively manage and grow a diverse and talented set of employees, making decisive talent calls when a role isn't the right fit.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentoring to employees on the team, develop career pathing, and others when necessary, to achieve successful short- and long-term outcomes.
  • Know the region's numbers: own account planning and strategy for the Illinois territory, and track team performance against pipeline and revenue goals.
  • Develop strong relationships with strategic OEM partners across the Illinois market, maintaining a regular cadence (at minimum monthly or quarterly) and helping connect your team directly to those partner resources.
  • Identify the region's key accounts and largest strategic pursuits, and provide hands-on leadership and resourcing support on those opportunities.
  • Act as an equal, trusted business partner to Sales leadership, with a regular cadence in place to stay aligned on account strategy and priorities.
  • Actively engage, build, and help execute business plans and strategy to grow WWT's business in the Illinois market.
