Job Description:

Summary

  • Prepare and file 600+ sales and use tax returns monthly for level 1-2 clients, adhering to established compliance standards and best practices.
  • Review client tax data for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and take corrective action as needed to ensure compliant and timely filings.
  • Format and import monthly tax data into Vertex Indirect Tax Returns (VITR) software; initiate and process electronic filings and payments in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via phone and email to address questions, provide updates, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Respond to tax authority notices and provide support for online filings, payments, and related compliance inquiries.
  • Collaborate with senior Tax Processing staff to resolve complex issues and support higher-level filing activities.
  • Maintain and update client tax compliance reports and documentation; accommodate additional hours during peak processing periods, typically the 5th–20th of each month.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in tax processing, accounting, or a related business function.
  • Familiarity with sales and use tax compliance regulations applicable to level 1-2 client engagements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools, with the ability to manage and manipulate data accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for client correspondence and tax authority interactions.
  • Ability to work independently on routine assignments and collaboratively as part of a structured team.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused, results-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Vertex Indirect Tax Returns (VITR) software or a comparable tax compliance platform.
  • Tax-related certification or coursework; encouraged but not required.
  • Prior experience with electronic tax filing systems and tax authority notice management.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree.

Pay Transparency Statement:

US Base Salary Range: $56,900.00 - $74,000.00

Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
