BR+A is seeking an experienced Technology Systems Designer in our Chicago, IL office. The role will exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within the Technology Systems team. The ideal candidate will be strongly motivated, well organized, and show professional initiative. Being able to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is also necessary.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide Engineering, Design work and drafting of plans 
  • Implementation of approved system concepts from a schematic diagram to floor plans 
  • Sketches, rough layouts to review with project engineer or Project Manager 
  • Review product cut sheets and technical information 
  • Communicate with Project Manager/Project Engineer regarding potential problems 
  • Meet with vendors to determine spatial requirements for application of the product 
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and the architect 
  • Attend meetings as required, to submit the required documentation per project deadlines and milestones 
  • Develop strategy to meet project schedule 
  • Assist in development of engineering systems concepts (M/E) 
  • Assist design team on major design issues 
  • Organize required technical correspondence, emails and calculations 
  • Perform field work and verification of existing conditions 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics or “Architectural Engineering”
  • Qualified experience using Autodesk RevIT design software
  • BICSI Registered RCDD certification or AVIXA CTS-D certification
  • 7-10 years of proven experience designing information and Communications Technology Systems (Data Networks, cDAS, Nurse Call, Electronic Security, Paging, Wireless, etc.) and/or Audiovisual networked systems.

Salary range for 7 – 10 years of experience: $90,000 - $125,000
