The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) role is a senior field-based position within the US commercial organization that will focus on commercial KOL relationship engagement, promotional speaker training and development, and supports the execution of promotional patient programs The position will report to the Director TLL and is a field-based extension of the marketing team. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain KOL Engagement Plans for thought leaders  
  • Plan and execute National and Regional Congress Engagement Plan with a focus on meaningful engagements with senior leadership and in support of marketing initiatives  

  • Support commercial KOL influence mapping initiatives by developing profiles  

  • Monitor KOL insights about current and future treatment patterns that may impact the commercial strategy and provide feedback for consideration 

  • Act as liaison between KOLs and Alexion for on label activities, including office-based cross-functional colleagues and teams  

  • Assist in the facilitation and execution of commercial advisory boards through identification of key advisors equipped to provide compelling insights  

  • Align with field partners such as Medical Science Liaisons on complementary initiatives with shared customers  

  • Work with Marketing and Sales Management to identify and recruit KOLs for national and regional faculty and speaker bureaus  

  • Trains physician speakers on approved promotional slide decks 

  • Develops physician speakers to provide high quality promotional education 

  • Ensures appropriate and compliant execution of speaker programs 

  • Monitors speaker performance at live programs 

  • Work with marketing and contracted speakers to gain and synthesize feedback in support of the evolution of promotional programming content, case studies for potential publications, and other commercial projects  

  • Provides field-based training on speaker programs for when needed (focus on community based promotional speakers not covered by MSLs) 

  • Creates and executes local promotional patient engagement plans and programs 

  • Provides input and support in developing account plans 

  • Provides field-based training when needed 

  • Address customer service issues/identified needs and coordinate cross-functional action plans to address on label issue as needed 

  • Works with cross-functional teams to provide key customer insights and input on strategy, tactics, and messaging, and program execution 

  • Works with the highest degree of professionalism and in accordance with the company’s code of Ethics and Business Conduct 

You will need to have: 

  • 7 plus years’ work experience in academia, medical or bio/pharma 

  • Experience in a combination of one or more of the following areas: product marketing, field sales, clinical, nurse practitioner or thought leader engagement 

  • Working knowledge of Thought Leader engagement practices. 

  • Clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease states 

  • Demonstrated ability to execute against strategic and tactical plans under short timelines 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities 

  • Self-driven with strong organizing and planning skills 

  • Highly collaborative with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Proven ability to manage large geographical territory  

  • Must live within the assigned territory or within 150 miles of the boarder of the territory 

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. 

  • Travel requirements: Willing to travel >50% of the time including significant overnight and weekend travel 

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment As is typical of a field-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.    

We would prefer for you to have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field 

  • Graduate degree (MSc, MSN, MBA) 

  • Prior experience and/or relationships within the Hematology and Nephrology area 

  • Prior experience in Marketing or thought leader engagement strongly preferred 

  • Self-driven with strong organizing and planning skills 

  • Highly collaborative with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Demonstrated ability to execute against strategic and tactical plans under short timelines 

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $174,455.20 - $261,682.80. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
