Who we are looking for: 
We are currently looking for a Value Stream Manager for the Slitter Area as part of Harvey Manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for supervising staff with an emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement and accomplishment of safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of manufacturing experience and at least 1 year of supervisory experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Audits product and processes to ensure conformance to specifications and direct set-up and adjustments of machines. 
  • Assure compliance with company policies and safety regulations with employees. 
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures or schedules to meet customer’s requirements. 
  • Implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiencies of shop, department, and work crew. 
  • Partner with Safety and/or HR to investigate, resolve and provide corrective measures for accidents, injuries, production, and personnel issues. 
  • Maintain consistent and fair labor relations with union employees. 
  • Manage training and employee development. 
  • Troubleshoot and correct operational issues. 
  • Ensure that the team honors our Atkore core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence in all aspects of their daily work. 
  • All other duties as assigned 

                    What you'll bring: 

                    • Bachelor’s degree, operations management or engineering degree strongly preferred. 
                    • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
                    • 1+ years of previous supervisory experience. 
                    • Experience in steel manufacturing is preferred. 
                    • Technical background in maintenance, industrial or manufacturing engineering required. 
                    • Ability to logically approach equipment troubleshooting situations and take corrective action. 
                    • Computer literate in spreadsheets and word applications. 
                    • Ability to analyze reports and performance metrics. 
                    • Strong leadership and communication skills. 
                    • Lean Management experience a plus. 
                    • Union environment and experience is a plus. 
                    • JDE experience is a plus. 
                    • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50lbs. 

                                          Within 3 months, you’ll:  

                                          • Complete your Atkore immersion program and how your job will deliver Atkore’s Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process. 
                                          • Understand your team’s strengths and opportunities focusing on improvements. 
                                          • Gain an understanding of the daily operations, processes, and compliance. 

                                              Within 6 months, you’ll:  

                                              • Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s Business System. 
                                              • Drive Lean Daily Management, including going to Gemba, and driving actions to solve problems permanently. 
                                              • Understand the strategy to improve and sustain net productivity while focusing on human capital development. 

                                                  Within 12 months, you’ll:  

                                                  • Deliver Atkore’s Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process. 
                                                  • Drive Lean Excellence strategy for your Production Departments. Develop strategies and implement projects to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. 
                                                  • Deploy Continuous Improvements operationally focused on scrap/defect reduction to significantly drive breakthrough results in operating revenue.

                                                      As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $115,040 - $158,180 .  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
