Lead the Model. Solve It Before the Field Has To. Build What’s Next.

The best VDC Project Managers do more than manage models. They lead coordination, resolve constructability issues, and turn design intent into fabrication-ready information that crews can install with confidence.

At RK Industries, you will own VDC delivery across one or more complex construction projects. You will lead multidisciplinary coordination, guide designers and coordinators through clash resolution, and connect preconstruction, project management, fabrication, and field teams from project kickoff through installation.

You will work where digital coordination meets real construction. That means understanding how mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems are routed, supported, fabricated, and installed, not simply how they appear in a model.

This is an opportunity to prevent rework, strengthen project execution, and develop the VDC professionals who will lead what’s next.

What You’ll Lead
  • Own the VDC coordination plan for one or more projects, including model setup, coordination milestones, issue tracking, deliverables, and closeout.

  • Lead recurring coordination meetings in Navisworks with VDC staff, project teams, designers, trade partners, and subcontractors.

  • Build and manage clash tests and collision sets, assign issues, drive daily resolution, and verify conflicts are closed before fabrication or installation.

  • Review contract drawings, specifications, submittals, and design changes to identify constructability risks and missing information early.

  • Generate, track, and communicate RFIs and design clarifications that affect coordination, fabrication, or field installation.

  • Direct 3D layout and routing of trade systems with attention to access, clearances, hangers, installation sequence, material use, and field practicality.

  • Perform quality-control reviews of coordinated models, shop drawings, spool drawings, and fabrication packages before release to manufacturing or the field.

  • Translate coordinated models into fabrication-ready and install-ready work packages while maintaining alignment with project scope and schedule.

  • Track model and drawing progress, identify schedule or staffing risks, and communicate recovery needs to VDC and project leadership before milestones are missed.

  • Partner directly with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, field leaders, preconstruction, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues through installation.

  • Mentor VDC Coordinators and Designers in trade-specific means and methods, coordination standards, quality control, and project ownership.

  • Improve VDC processes, modeling standards, material selections, and coordination workflows using lessons learned from the shop and field.

What You Bring
  • 7+ years of relevant BIM/VDC or construction coordination experience, including PM-level ownership of complex projects. An equivalent combination of education, field experience, and technical experience will be considered.

  • Direct experience working for a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or specialty-trade contractor. General-contractor or design-firm experience must include substantial trade-coordination and fabrication-to-field responsibility.

  • Advanced, recent experience with Navisworks Manage, including model federation, clash-test setup, issue assignment, coordination-meeting leadership, and verified clash closeout.

  • Proficiency in Revit and experience reviewing or directing the development of coordinated trade models.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MEP building systems, constructability, system routing, access and clearance requirements, hanger coordination, and installation sequencing.

  • Experience reviewing coordinated models and fabrication or shop drawings before release to a shop or field team.

  • A record of owning schedules, deliverables, risks, RFIs, design changes, and coordination outcomes across multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience leading and mentoring VDC Designers or Coordinators through indirect supervision.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and contract documents.

  • Strong communication and judgment, including the ability to challenge impractical designs, facilitate decisions, and escalate risks before they affect fabrication or installation.

  • Ability to collaborate regularly with Denver-area project, shop, and field teams and visit active jobsites as project needs require.

What Will Set You Apart
  • Mechanical piping, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, or electrical trade expertise.

  • Experience coordinating large, complex, or mission-critical projects.

  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Revit add-ins, fabrication software, or model-based issue-tracking platforms.

  • Experience producing or reviewing spool drawings, fabrication packages, hanger layouts, or field-installation work packages.

  • Documented results such as reduced clashes, avoided rework, improved fabrication readiness, recovered coordination schedules, or successful delivery across multiple projects.

  • A construction-related degree, trade apprenticeship, BIM/VDC credential, or equivalent field-to-digital career path.
