Mission of the Position:
The Warranty Analytical Analyst supports continuous improvement in warranty performance, reporting, processes, and procedures. This role serves as the primary interface between customers and internal teams, conducting warranty claim investigations, supporting part reviews, ensuring the accuracy of Magna-related claim data, and managing customer scorecards. The position focuses on reducing warranty costs through data analysis, issue resolution, and cost recovery initiatives while providing standardized reporting to customers and Magna leadership. By monitoring performance against targets, the Warranty Analytical Analyst identifies risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to support informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead data analysis, trend identification, and forecasting to support risk mitigation, performance improvement, and cost control.
- Serve as a trusted analytical partner to cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, finance, supplier management, and leadership).
- Independently interpret data, challenge assumptions, and validate conclusions to ensure accuracy and defensibility.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and executive-level summaries tailored to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactively identify emerging risks, anomalies, and improvement opportunities through data monitoring and root-cause analysis.
- Support financial planning activities such as cost forecasting, accruals, and variance analysis using statistical methods.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and governance across systems, reports, and customer-facing deliverables.
Customers and Business Interfaces:
- Serve as a primary analytical interface with warranty system engineers and warranty technicians to interpret claim data, and failure trends
- Partner closely with Troy and Ramos engineering teams to provide data analytics that support root cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Troy and Ramos Supplier Quality teams to support supplier performance analysis, warranty exposure assessment, and issue resolution through data-driven insights.
- Act as a point of contact for data-driven discussions with internal leadership related to warranty performance, trends, and risks.
- Prepare and present data insights, dashboards, and summaries for cross-functional forums including engineering reviews, quality reviews, and management discussions.
- Attend and actively participate in customer PDT, engineering, and warranty review meetings, providing clear analytical support and responding to customer data requests.
- Support customer discussions and negotiations by delivering accurate, timely, and defensible data analysis.
- Proactively identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or emerging risks and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Four-year degree required in Science or Mathematics preferred.
- Four-year data analytics experience with focus in warranty preferred
- Strong experience with warranty, quality, or reliability data in an automotive or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze large, complex datasets and identify trends, risks, and cost drivers.
- Experience developing dashboards, recurring reports, and executive summaries to support decision-making.
- Solid understanding of statistical/failure prediction methods such as Weibull, trend analysis, regression, failure rate analysis, and basic reliability concepts.
- Ability to prioritize multiple competing requests and manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and validate data integrity.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, finance, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to support customer negotiations through data-driven analysis and fact-based recommendations.
- Comfortable presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
- Familiarity with warranty systems, claim processing, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI, R programming, or similar data analysis tools preferred.
- Professional judgment to handle sensitive data and customer interactions appropriately.
