5 Chicago tech companies looking for seasoned product pros

As champions for the user within a company's tech team, product owners and managers are tasked with ensuring that a company's deliverables are in line with what the user wants and what the company hopes to achieve. If you've got some serious product chops and you're looking for an exciting new place to flaunt them, be sure to check out the roles these five companies are looking to fill.

What they do: One of Chicago’s fastest-growing tech companies, Uptake is the maker of a predictive analytics SaaS platform that helps companies increase the efficiency of their operations. That could mean anything from increasing equipment utilization to reducing energy use or making supply chains more efficient.

Product jobs: Product manager, Senior product manager, Technical product manager

Perks and culture: In addition to traditional benefits like health coverage, a 401(k) match, open PTO and parental leave, Uptake hosts an internal philosophy class and speaker series for its employees. The team also gets a lunch stipend and catered Friday meals.

What they do: By combining financial data with research and clinical evidence, Procured Health helps hospitals prioritize medical device purchases to improve customer satisfaction and patient outcomes. The company works with healthcare systems like Stanford Health Care, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Johns Hopkins. (Update: Procured Health is now Lumere.)

Product jobs: Product Manager

Perks and culture: Procured Health’s team enjoys a generous PTO policy, standing desks, great coffee and beers on tap in the office. They’re also invited to join the company’s kickball and softball teams and attend culture events like a “Beers and Books” club, game nights and wine tastings.

What they do: A digital agency centered around mobile development, responsive design and branding, Vokal works with companies like Groupon and Whole Foods to create engaging mobile experiences.

Product jobs: Product owner

Perks and culture: In addition to having competitive compensation and six different ways to brew coffee at the office, employees at Vokal’s River North headquarters get excited about playing Team Fortress 2 and intramural kickball together.

What they do: A leading operator in the healthtech space, Outcome Health creates digital information products that help patients improve their own health outcomes. They do so by delivering actionable information directly at the point of care.

Product jobs: Business product manager, Product hardware specialist

Perks and culture: Employees at Outcome Health get a 401(k), equity in one of the city’s fastest-growing tech companies and a fantastic view of the city. And if that’s not enough, the company’s swanky offices also have an in-house barista and free breakfast and lunch.

What they do: A medical diagnostics startup with a digital, consumer-focused approach, Analyte Health lets consumers connect with a doctor online anytime. After a discussion of medical history and current symptoms, the doctor prescribes a lab test plan that the patient can carry out at one of 4,000 test centers across the country, typically receiving the results within 72 hours.

Product jobs: Senior product manager

Perks and culture: Employees at Analyte Health’s sun-filled, lofted headquarters enjoy a casual work environment with company sports teams and afternoon stair-walking (it's a health thing). Employees also have 401(k) plans, paid time off and daily catered lunches.
