Chicago-headquartered video marketplace platform Cameo is looking back on a momentous 2020. Business boomed during the pandemic as more fans purchased personalized videos from their favorite pop-culture icons and celebrities.

According to a company blog post published Tuesday, Cameo sold 1.3 million videos during last year alone, producing approximately $100 million in gross merchandise value in 2020 and signifying a company growth rate of 4.5x year-over-year.

The startup also announced that its workforce will permanently remain remote. After hiring close to 100 new employees in 2020, Cameo projects more than half of its team will have never worked in the office by the end of Q1 this year.

The new developments don’t stop there. Cameo’s executive team also got a makeover with the addition of senior personnel from several big name tech and consumer brands. Along with others, leaders formerly of companies including Quibi, Bustle Media Group, LinkedIn and McDonald’s are joining Cameo’s c-suite. On Tuesday, the company announced Rob Post is joining the company as its new CTO, Deb Schwartz as CFO, Brian Frank as COO and Melanie Steinbach as CPO.

Having experienced a 350 percent year-over-year growth rate in video bookings, Cameo stepped up to meet the increased demand. In 2020 alone, the company added 10,000 new members to its talent base, and by the end of the year more than 150 of them were banking at least $100,000 per year. Cameo’s customer base also grew significantly at a year-over-year rate of approximately 250 percent.
