Frequently Asked Questions

Cultural Alignment

The culture at CPI OpenFox is characterized by collaboration, a mission-driven approach, innovation, inclusivity, transparency, and a focus on growth. Employees emphasize the importance of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), such as the CPI "Culture Club," as well as various cultural events and company rituals. These include value-based recognition and informal team bonding activities, such as happy hours, picnics, potlucks, off-site events, office Olympics, games, and raffles. Such activities demonstrate how the culture is actively lived out on a daily basis.

Employees also note that coworkers treat each other as individuals rather than just colleagues; they openly share aspects of their personal lives and celebrate achievements together through traditions that foster a sense of connection beyond mere tasks.

Leadership supports this culture by openly discussing the organization's core values, funding cultural programs, and ensuring these values are integrated into everyday work. Additional indicators of this commitment include employee awards recognizing positive workplace experiences, coverage by Built In that showcases culture in action, and recognition in Built In’s Best Places to Work award, which honors companies known for fostering positive work environments.

Recognition Practices

Employee recognition at CPI OpenFox occurs through various means, including all-hands celebrations, quarterly luncheons, and structured awards aligned with the company’s values. Monetary rewards, such as annual bonuses, are also part of the recognition process.

In addition to these formal recognitions, employees appreciate small moments, such as managers acknowledging their efforts during team meetings. Cross-departmental recognition helps make contributions visible beyond immediate teams, while traditions such as company-wide shoutouts from leaders reinforce that recognition is genuine and not merely formal.

Overall, recognition at CPI OpenFox is closely tied to the company’s values, the impact of employees' projects, and their contributions to team culture. This approach helps employees feel that their work is both visible and appreciated.

CPI OpenFox Employee Perspectives

Tell us about CPI OpenFox’s approach to the in-office experience. How are these elements emblematic of your team culture?

CPI has created a thoughtful and engaging workspace with a variety of amenities that support both productivity and relaxation. Features like our arcade and game area, coffee stations and collaborative spaces not only encourage a positive team culture but also make the office a place where employees genuinely enjoy spending time.

In your opinion, what about your in-office experience feels the most impactful on your daily work life?

The most impactful aspect of the in-office experience for me is the ability to connect and collaborate with my colleagues and the leadership team in person. The camaraderie and teamwork fostered by these interactions make my work at CPI truly enjoyable and productive.

Is there anything you’re looking forward to with the in-office experience?

I look forward to the monthly events hosted by our Culture Club. These events range from themed pop-up food bars to “Office Olympics.” Having these events add an element of fun and community to our workplace that I greatly appreciate.

What are the key characteristics and values of a good team culture, and how do you and your team bring those characteristics or values to life?

At CPI, building a good team culture is important, and I think there are several things that are key to contributing to that goal. Communication, collaboration, flexibility, recognition and accountability are all essential to supporting individual team members and fostering them to support each other. Above all of these, however, I feel the most important thing to building a great team culture is trust. Team members must be able to trust in one another. They must mean what they say and deliver on their promises.

Ensuring that each team member has a space built on psychological safety and allows them to bring ideas to the table and trust that we will respect them greatly impacts team cohesion. We strive to make sure that every team member listens to each other, and when they commit to a decision or an idea, they follow up. Everyone knows their contributions are important, and they rely on one another to hold their weight.

How do you ensure your team members continue to feel challenged, engaged and excited by their work?

I think the size of our company, combined with the fast-paced changes in our industry, helps to keep CPI ever-evolving and keeps our work exciting. We recently redesigned one of our applications, changing the technology that powered it. This meant that several members from all aspects of our company were meeting and discussing everything from current functionality to potential improvements, to performance factors, to “future-proofing.”

Watching team members share ideas, identify challenges and debate the solutions is always exciting. Watching someone’s eyes light up when their solution becomes the right solution is an amazing experience, especially because at CPI, the other team members are excited by that idea and are ready to support them. Because CPI takes the time to review our existing platforms and encourages our staff to come up with new ways to approach our products, CPI stays innovative. Because we hear every voice, team members know their contributions are a huge part of that success.

Do you have any unique team celebrations, traditions or rituals to celebrate successes?

One of my favorite things that CPI does is our “You Make A Difference” awards. Every quarter, our team members nominate their peers for accomplishments and successes that were “above and beyond” the bounds of their normal duties. Nominations can include project-related work, innovative new ways, personal achievements and much more.

I love that these nominations are “peer-to-peer” and visible to the entire company. The reading of the awards is a vital part of our company culture and everyone looks forward to seeing who is a recipient.
