Job DescriptionWe are hiring an HR Generalist to join our team in Chicago. In this role, you will own the full employee lifecycle, from offer acceptance to offboarding, while keeping our people data sharp and our leave programs running smoothly. This is a hands-on role at a company where HR is seen as a true business enabler.
This role will support a population of 200+ colleagues and report directly to the Senior Manager of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Onboarding & New Hire Experience
- Own end-to-end onboarding for all new hires across client-facing and internal roles
- Coordinate with IT, Recruiting, and Talent Development to ensure Day 1 readiness
- Conducts and facilitates new hire orientation, including company overview
People Metrics & Reporting
- Owns people data integrity and compiles reports for leadership as needed
- Partner with the Finance team on headcount planning and org-level reporting
- Maintain compliance with employment laws with managing company policies, reporting and employee files
Leave of Absence (LOA) Administration
- Serve as primary point of contact for all leave types: FMLA, parental, medical, and personal
- Guide employees and managers through leave processes with clarity and empathy
- Coordinate return-to- work plans, including accommodations
- Track LOA cases and maintain accurate records
Employee Engagement
- Supports employee recognition program, employee gifts, and employment milestones
- Respond to employee questions on policies, benefits, and workplace issues
- Analyze engagement survey data and surface actionable trends for leadership
- Supports talent programs and projects across Talent Team as needed
- Genuine empathy and a people-first mindset
- Warm, approachable style that makes employees feel heard, especially during sensitive conversations
- Minimum of 3 years HR Generalist or HR Coordinator experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Demonstrated ability to establish key relationships and develop strong credibility
- Sound analytical acumen
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take initiative and drive tasks to completion
- SPHR, CHRP, or GPHR certification a plus, but not required

The estimated base salary for this role is $80,000. This estimate reflects the best estimate at the time of this posting and does not guarantee any specific salary for this position. It is important to note that at Roland Berger, individual salaries are determined on a case-by-case basis based on experience, education, office location, start date, and organizational needs. Roland Berger will review your performance at least annually and may adjust your salary in its sole discretion
This role is eligible for additional compensation and is eligible for an annual bonus.
