Leads national wholesale and open-market placement strategy for commercial property and casualty insurance. Manages placement leaders and brokers, develops insurer relationships, negotiates terms and agreements, handles complex placements, and supports sales, renewals, and market strategy. Monitors market conditions, improves placement processes and technology adoption, collaborates on analytics and program structuring, supports acquisitions, and maintains accurate placement records and escalation follow-up.
Director National Placement Leader drives strategic wholesale/open market placement strategy for the firm's P&C book, serving as the primary liaison between retail Advisors /account service teams and the Regional Placement leaders . This role is also responsible for specific Insurance company Partnership’s, market strategy, and placement execution across property, casualty, and related specialty lines, ensuring optimal coverage, pricing, and service for clients while strengthening the firm's leverage and standing with Key Insurance Company Partners .
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work with and lead / develop a team of placement leaders and placement brokers across all regions or business units helping with escalations ,harnessing The Baldwin group’s leverage for best outcomes for our clients and key stake holders.
- Own and expand ICP relationships (admitted and E&S/surplus lines), negotiating program terms, work with National palcment leadership on contingency/override agreements, and service commitments.
- Work with the National Placement and service leadership to execute on enterprise placement strategy, Placement guiding principles and all” Go to Market” strategies ,ICP appetite alignment, and submission /Placement quality standards and deliverables .
- Serve as escalation point for complex, distressed, or large-premium placements
- Partner with sales/Advisors to support new business pitches and renewal retention with market intelligence and pricing insight.
- Monitor market conditions (hard/soft cycles, capacity shifts, emerging risk trends) and communicate impact to leadership and advisors and service colleagues .
- Drive placement process consistency, technology adoption, and data/analytics use across offices
- Represent the firm at ICP meetings, industry conferences, and market summits
- Collaborate with analytics/actuarial teams on loss modeling and program structuring for complex accounts.
- Support M&A integration of acquired agencies' placement functions Drives disciplined follow-up on open placement items, pending submissions, and outstanding ICP requests, ensuring every issue carries a documented owner and next step through to resolution.
- Utilizes the ICP Repository as the source of truth when making regional placement decisions, referencing ICP relationship status, open escalations, and account-level history to ensure decisions are grounded in accurate, current information.
- Maintains accurate, current records of placement decisions and escalation outcomes so historical context and rationale remain accessible to the team over time
- 15+ years in commercial P&C insurance, with significant Direct ICP experience ,wholesale, MGA, or placement/brokerage experience
- Deep carrier relationships across standard and E&S markets
- Property & Casualty license required; CPCU, CIC, or ARM preferred
- Proven leadership of marketing/placement teams
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and market-trend fluency
- Experience with placement/AMS platforms (Applied, Sagitta, etc.) and data-driven submission tools
