Job Description

At Egis, we're looking for a Project Accounting Manager to join our finance team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical project accounting processes, strengthen financial visibility across the business, and play a key role in how we evolve our accounting operations.

You'll work closely with the Controller, project managers, and department leaders to improve project budgeting, forecasting, work-in-progress (WIP) analysis, and revenue recognition. You'll also help guide our upcoming transition to Oracle and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys solving problems, building better processes, and making a meaningful impact. While you won't have direct reports, you'll provide functional guidance to our AP/AR teams and influence financial practices across the organization.

The Impact You'll Make

Lead Project Accounting & Financial Performance

  • Take ownership of project accounting processes, including project setup, financial controls, WIP analysis, revenue recognition, and project financial reporting.
  • Partner with project managers and department leaders to review project performance, identify variances, resolve financial issues, and improve project profitability visibility.
  • Strengthen project-level budgeting, forecasting, and cost-to-complete projections, helping teams make informed financial decisions.
  • Coach project managers and department leaders on financial best practices, building greater consistency and accountability across projects.

Drive Process Improvements & Transformation

  • Play an important role in the transition to Oracle and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve financial accuracy, and strengthen existing accounting processes.
  • Help establish more consistent project financial reporting, forecasting, and review practices.
  • Explore new tools and technologies, including Power BI and AI, to improve efficiency and financial insights.

Support Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Partner with the Controller on month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and project revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, KPIs, and project performance metrics to support operational and leadership decisions.
  • Monitor general ledger activity and provide functional guidance to the AP/AR teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely issue resolution.
  • Support cash flow monitoring, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate project billing, financial reviews, and related client communications for Egis Rail USA.

Own Audit Coordination & Financial Compliance

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
  • Coordinate audit documentation, financial schedules, and responses to auditor requests.
  • Support FAR audit requirements and related compliance activities.
  • Prepare financial information and reports for clients, municipalities, vendors, and other external stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including experience supporting interim and year-end audits.
  • Hands-on project accounting experience, including WIP analysis, revenue recognition, and project budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Ability to partner with and influence project managers, department leaders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience developing financial reports, analyses, and supporting workpapers.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive mindset and genuine interest in improving processes, implementing new technologies, and finding better ways of working.

Even Better If You Have

  • CPA certification or public accounting experience.
  • Experience in engineering, architecture, construction, or government contracting.
  • Experience with percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting or cost-to-complete forecasting.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Ajera, Tagetik, Oracle, or similar financial systems.
  • Knowledge of FAR, indirect rates, or government contract compliance.
  • Experience using Power BI, automation, or other tools to enhance financial reporting.
