Department Overview

The Fund Accounting Department is responsible for the financial and investor reporting associated with Golub Capital’s private (e.g., non-Business Development Company) investment funds and vehicles. The team provides accounting and / or reporting for internal vehicles, limited partnerships and separately managed accounts pursuant to the governing limited partnership and investment management agreements and, where appropriate, in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Fund Accounting also provides Golub Capital’s management companies and leadership with reporting and analysis in support of existing business and new initiatives.


Key responsibilities include the set-up and ongoing maintenance of investment vehicles / capital accounts; monthly closes and ongoing maintenance of each fund’s general ledger; production of quarterly financial and investor reporting; support of annual external audits of approximately 30 financial statements; forecasting fund performance; and producing management and regulatory reporting. To accomplish these responsibilities, Fund Accounting has sub-teams that focus on Private Funds, PEARLS (institutional funds and separately managed accounts) and Reporting. The Fund Accounting Department interacts extensively with Golub Capital’s Operations, Treasury, Tax, Investor Communications, Technology Solutions, Business Development, Compliance and Valuation Teams.


Position Responsibilities

This role supports the Fund Accounting Analytics (“FAA”) Team in driving more efficient, standardized and robust reporting capability for the Firm, building a customer-focused finance team and driving operational excellence. This role will assist in supporting the production, design, development and implementation of reporting to be responsive to both internal and external constituencies. This person will play a significant role in these efforts while being exposed to the core processes and deliverables of a fast-paced team serving a growing business.


Primary duties and responsibilities include:

−     Assisting in building and maintaining data models to build reporting for senior management, ad-hoc analysis and current and potential investor requests

−     Utilizing technological / analytical skills to develop new reporting analysis and automating current reports

−     Preparing and reviewing forecast materials for senior management to provide a preview of performance before month-end reconciliation process is completed

−     Working closely with the FAA Team, Fund Accounting and many other teams within the Firm on implementing efficient and effective processes for internal and external reporting

−     Optimizing the current process and contributing to the system and process improvements needed for long-term growth and development

−     Utilizing and analyzing large amounts of data to produce financial, accounting, reporting deliverables and analysis

−     Maintaining strong controls while driving efficiency, standardization and automation in a collaborative manner


Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding / knowledge of financial company balance sheets, income statements and the consolidation of entities
  • Understanding of financial metrics (leverage calculations, return calculations, IRR and performance metrics)
  • Advanced skill level in Excel required (e.g. advanced formulas, power query and ad-hoc modeling)
  • Experience with Workday, Office Connect, Wall Street Office, Power BI Desktop / Report Builder and similar systems are a strong plus
  • Proactive self-starter with a positive can-do and “no job is too small’ attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI tools in day-to-day work, with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, limitations and appropriate use of AI generated outputs
  • Enthusiastic about working in office and creating a Gold Standard hybrid work culture

Compensation & Benefits

For Illinois Only: It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $80,000 to $120,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experiences and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an ‘at-will position’ and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
