The role partners cross-functionally on risk mitigation, change management, and risk culture initiatives. Owns consumer credit reporting accuracy across loan and credit card products. Responsibilities include data validation, Metro 2 submissions, dispute investigations, regulatory compliance, defect root-cause analysis, corrective actions, automation, offshore team oversight, escalations, and cross-functional remediation. The role requires maintaining accurate, timely reporting to credit bureaus while meeting FCRA and other statutory deadlines.

Leads Avant’s internal audit and SOX function, advising the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee on controls and risk. Builds the audit charter, methodology, risk assessment, audit plan, SOX compliance roadmap, and remediation governance from an early-stage program. Recruits staff, manages co-sourced partners, oversees testing and deficiency evaluation, and implements GRC, analytics, automated testing, and continuous monitoring capabilities. Partners with Finance, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk while maintaining audit independence.

Own complex operational accounting processes and month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, SOX controls, audits, and process documentation. Investigate accounting issues, improve data quality, automate workflows, and implement controlled AI-enabled accounting processes. Partner cross-functionally on systems and transformation projects, review junior accountants’ work, and mentor staff. The role is based in a hybrid downtown Chicago office.

Support tax planning, research, and compliance for federal, state, local and Canadian taxes. Prepare tax workpapers and provisions, coordinate with external providers, respond to notices, compute payments, prepare indirect tax filings, and partner with Accounting, Treasury and FP&A for tax data and projections.
