The Tax Manager at Wipfli leads real estate tax compliance and consulting, mentors team members, and drives business growth through client relationship management and industry expertise.

Audit interns support client engagements by performing audit, review, and compliance testing; preparing financial statements, footnotes, and management reports; gathering client information; analyzing data; identifying process improvements; and communicating with engagement leaders. Interns develop practical knowledge of GAAP, audit procedures, accounting software, professional standards, and client-service practices while working independently and collaboratively.

Audits financial statements, quarterly information, and annual reports for manufacturing, retail, and distribution clients. Plans audits, assesses risks, tests internal controls, researches accounting issues, and performs work under GAAS, GAAP, PCAOB, AICPA, and SOX standards. Builds client relationships, communicates findings, and trains staff and interns. The role requires hybrid work and travel to client sites up to 50%.

Prepares individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns and projections; researches tax issues; supports engagement planning; communicates with clients and firm leaders; manages deadlines and budgets; identifies engagement opportunities; provides technical client assistance; and maintains tax expertise through training and community involvement.

Provide assistant controller-level accounting support for healthcare clients: manage day-to-day financial reporting, general ledger accuracy, month-end close, prepare monthly reporting packages and workpapers, review balance sheets and account classifications, maintain client procedure manuals, coordinate project tasks, mentor/account assignment estimation, and collaborate across service lines to develop best practices.

Manages complex federal, state, and multistate tax compliance and planning for construction contractors and related entities. Reviews partnership, S-Corp, C-Corp, and individual returns; applies long-term contract accounting and percentage-of-completion rules; conducts tax research; and advises clients on entity structure, cash flow, depreciation, and tax savings. Serves as a primary client contact, manages multiple engagements, and supervises and develops tax staff while maintaining quality and deadlines.

Provides regulatory compliance consulting to financial services clients, including risk assessments, remediation, monitoring, regulatory research, compliance testing, audit documentation, and management reporting. Advises clients on strengthening compliance management systems, identifies regulatory gaps, presents findings to boards and executives, and supports federal consumer compliance requirements. Requires banking compliance experience, lending knowledge, strong analytical and communication skills, and approximately 20% domestic travel.

Leads financial integration for acquired businesses, including M&A diligence, pre-close planning, financial data and reporting transitions, purchase accounting coordination, synergy tracking, performance management, earn-out analysis, and executive reporting. Partners with Finance, Accounting, IT, Data, Operations, and external advisors to integrate acquisitions, improve processes, and develop repeatable integration methodologies.

Manage tax compliance engagements, communicate with clients, review tax work, provide training, and maintain technical expertise in tax areas.

Manage complex tax returns and consulting for partnerships, mentor staff, and develop tax planning strategies while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
