After 10 years of offering its hiring platform solely via the web, Hireology released its first mobile application in 2020.

The launch marked a monumental milestone for the HR tech company and was celebrated as such. Employees cheered over a virtual event while leadership recognized the individuals who made the app happen, and a press release trumpeted the new product to the masses.

Highlights from Hireology’s public announcement included their users’ new ability to evaluate and connect with applicants from anywhere, where to download it, as well as some context for its origin: the need to respond to candidates quickly.

The press release also touched on how the app is the first of several key product updates to come. So, what’s that mean for Hireology’s internal growth plans and future business approach?

After connecting with SVP of Product and Growth Anil Harjani, Built In Chicago found out that it’s going to be quite a bit.

We’ll let Harjani take it from here.

Tell us a bit about the impetus behind the app and how it will impact future projects at Hireology.

Our customers told us that they can’t always find time to sit at their desks to review applications and communicate with candidates, which in turn causes them to miss out on top talent. They needed a way to complete critical hiring steps on the go, so we built our mobile app to help customers build their best team while on the sales floor, at home or anywhere else.

Today, we’re constantly improving the app by iterating and adding more features over time, such as better search, filtering and sorting tools. This idea of collecting customer feedback, delivering against that feedback and then iterating over time drives all of our projects. Not only are we constantly enhancing the app, but we’re using this model to deliver other exciting features like automated interview scheduling, artificial intelligence chatbot technology and some first-to-market strategic projects with partners.

We learned that approaching product management in this way not only drives results for customers but also drives the business. This combination provides the foundation to continue to invest in and expand the team.

Non-stop High-five Train

Hireology’s internal celebration following the launch of the app was what Harjani described as “pretty typical.” At companywide huddles every week, leadership nods to individuals who exemplify core values. “We believe that recognizing people for their hard work helps them see their value and in turn motivates them to keep working hard and producing even more great work. It’s a great cycle!” Harjani said.

As far as hiring at Hireology, who are you looking to bring aboard?

We are hiring across the board, with a special focus on product and engineering. We’ve got big plans for our platform and need people who are passionate about delivering customer value and ready to go big. We’re looking for folks who are go-getters, the roll-up-your-sleeves types who never see any task as too small. The right attitude is paramount, and you get extra points if you have experience interacting with both customers and stakeholders.

I think I can speak for everyone at Hireology when I say that we like to have a good time, so across all teams we’re looking for people who are empathetic, enjoy a chuckle and don’t take things too seriously.
