This year, talks include everything from building the perfect burger to an inside look at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation’s Fab Lab. Demystifying Data Science (Or: There's No One Way to Become a Data Scientist), Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Handling huge data sets may not seem like an obvious line of work, but data scientists are vital to making use of the digital age’s vast amount of info. At this event, hear how the field’s pros got into their jobs, from the city of Chicago’s chief data officer to the data science lead at Sprout Social. It’s also the grand opening for data science training provider Metis’ Chicago office.
Greenhouse OPEN Roadshow Chicago, Oct. 20
Greenhouse’s OPEN Roadshow is stopping in Chicago to help the city’s teams improve their hiring, retention and culture building processes. The day-long event will include a series of hands-on learning sessions covering innovative ideas, strategies and training in the field. Attendees can even earn Society for Human Resource Management credits for their time at the event.

Does your company have what it takes to win a war with other startups? This years StartupWars will battle through the city’s tech scene in an attempt to dethrone defending champs ContextMedia.
