Chicago Start-Up Risk I/O Now Offers the Ability to Anticipate Where Security Attacks Are Likely to Occur

In a perfect world, we would be able to forecast eventsespecially those that could potentially create havocbefore they occur. The Big Data movement has helped us get closer to this: the massive amount of information we have on hand can be used to anticipate what might happen in the future.

This would be ideal for the Information Security industry. Security professionals deal with thousands, if not millions, of security vulnerabilities at a given time and can sometimes spend hours searching through these vulnerabilities in their security tool set. Having this predictive information would help them focus their remediation efforts.

To meet this need, Risk I/O has announced the addition of global attack data to their vulnerability intelligence platform. This is used alongside known information about security vulnerabilities to help security professionals anticipate where they are most likely to be attacked. As a bonus, this is all done in real time.

The brains behind this new capability is a processing engine. Built into Risk I/O, this engine uses attack data as well as external data from publically available sources such as RiskDB and AlienVault, among others. This information is then used to prioritize security vulnerabilities based on velocity, exploitation and impact. As a result, security professionals are aware of the vulnerabilities that should be remediated first based on which attacks are most prevalent and those that are being used against their peers. They benefit from time saved and a reduced risk exposure.

This new feature is part of the data-driven approach that Risk I/O has taken with their vulnerability intelligence platform. By offering enriched vulnerability data, Risk I/O helps security professionals prioritize their work and put the right controls in place to protect against security breaches.
