One tip to increase productivity in college.. Whiteboards!

By Jack Sutherland, Intern with Packback

As I am sitting here writing up some Packback marketing material on my whiteboard in my college apartment I start to think about how much of a role the whiteboard plays in the creative process. I look back to the roots of this company and it truly all started with an idea and a whiteboard. That is how most things have come to be in college for us Packback-ers.

Some of my best memories in college come from getting a group of the guys together and a case of beer and just start talking about interesting things and putting our thoughts up on the board for everyone to see. For example, if you walk through my apartment right now you will see Accounting homework, my college bucket list, and stock ideas from this morning. Sometimes all it takes is just the act of writing down thoughts to generate new ideas. I would venture to guess that most of the start-up world has gone through the creative process with a whiteboard on their side.

I picture Mark Zuckerburg in his Harvard dorm room feverishly writing new ideas for Facebook. Sometimes if you don’t get everything out on the table you might not reach your full potential.

I challenge you as a student, thinker, or entrepreneur to head to Lowes or Home Depot this Thanksgiving break and pick one up. Think creatively and write everything down. You might surprise yourself with what you come up with.
