SpotHero acquires ParkPlease, grows presence in San Francisco

[ibimage==46709==Original==none==self==ibimage_align-center]Ever been to San Francisco and struggle to find parking? Well, SpotHero is working hard to solve that issue.

The Chicago-based startup, which has an app that allows users to easily find parking on-demand, announced April 22 that it acquired ParkPlease, a platform launched in 2011 that links San Francisco drivers to a multitude of private parking spots.

The acquisition adds 250 locations to the 78 parking spots already under SpotHero’s domain, leaving SpotHero with a robust collection of parking spots in San Francisco. Drivers in San Francisco will see the new spots on the app within the following weeks.

“SpotHero has seen incredible growth in San Francisco since our launch 4 months ago. We’ve been doubling the number of customers using SpotHero each month and we want to ride this momentum by expanding our parking offerings even more,” Mark Lawrence, SpotHero CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. “Our mission is to make life easier for drivers, and acquiring ParkPlease’s parking spots will help us achieve that goal.”

In addition to Chicago and San Francisco, SpotHero, a graduate of Excelerate Labs (before it became TechStars Chicago), operates in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.

The company has raised $7 million in funding since its inception in 2011.
