Built In Brews at project44, November 15 at 5:30 p.m.

We’ve teamed up with project44 to throw another of our monthly Built In Brews events! Join us at the project44 office in the Merchandise Mart to learn more about their organization and available opportunities, network with other Chicago tech professionals and tour their awesome workspace. Tickets are limited, so get yours before they’re all gone! 

 

Silos Suck: How to Align Functional Groups to Capture Market Opportunities, November 13 at 4:30 p.m.

This tech talk which will give attendees insight into how to develop and grow a business, and how to effectively break out of a silo. The event will take place at the YCharts office and will have its CEO, the CEO of Scripted.com and the president of CSG International discussing how to scale functional groups, facilitate enhanced internal communication and better align cross-functional teams for their common goals. 

 

Hack Your Cybersecurity Career: Enter or Grow in the Industry, November 13 at 6 p.m.

If you’re interested in a career in cybersecurity, this event is for you. Michael Winkler, director of information security and compliance at Matthews International, will provide information on what avenues exist for working in the industry — and how people interested in the field can get into it. The free event, hosted by EvolveSec, will take place at 1871 in the Merchandise Mart, and pizza and drinks will be provided. 

 

A Day in the Life of a Product Manager by Expedia Senior PM, November 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Ever been interested in the day-to-day duties of a product manager? Lucy Meadow, the senior product manager at Expedia Group, who has a decade of experience, will discuss the many roles one could play working the position, and how they might differ from one company to another or even with the same organization. The event will be hosted at the WeWork National Building and is free to attend.

 

Build Your Own WordPress Website, November 17 at 10 a.m.

Learn how to build a custom WordPress website for your business from scratch at this event — no coding or previous experience necessary. Kara Buffardi, founder and CEO of Craveity Marketing, who has almost a decade of experience creating large-scale WordPress pages for businesses, will lead the workshop. Instruction will focus on a number of topics including construction of a page, understanding the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, learning which themes work best, and more.
