MATTER companies have raised over $1 billion in funding. Healthcare startups affiliated with the healthcare startup incubator have raised a total of $175 million in 2019 alone. MATTER has worked with more than 200 companies, including Pear Therapeutics, HealthVerity, and Redox. [Built In Chicago]

G2 is going global. G2, a Chicago-based software review company, has launched its international business with a new London office. The new space comes after a $55 million Series C funding round, and G2 expects to grow its London team to 15 employees by the end of the year. [Built In Chicago]

SpotOn raised $40 million in funding. The San Francisco-based company whose technology offices are located in Chicago, plans to use the fresh funds to expand to new markets, grow its field sales team and add 100 employees to its SpotOn restaurant division. [Built In Chicago]

Beaxy Digital launched its cryptocurrency trading platform. The new platform, with nine trading order types, launched last week for customers in 43 states and 185 countries. With 25 full-time employees, Beaxy Digital has raised $8 million in funding and plans to expand its team across the U.S. and Europe. [Built In Chicago]

Bento’s new feature: Instant payments for small businesses. The financial operating platform rolled out Bento Pay for quick digital payments. BentoPay offers improved security features for large B2B transactions. [Press Release]

Spring Labs raised a $23 million Series A. Spring Labs’ blockchain-based technology is dedicated to keeping financial institutions’ data secure. Founded by veterans from Chicago’s Avant, Spring Labs is building an engineering team in Chicago. [Built In Chicago]

 

Major new hires

Vivek Vaid has been appointed as FourKites’ new chief technology officer to drive the company’s technology strategy. Previously at Uptake, Vaid has more than 20 years of experience leading software development teams. [Press Release]

Signal announced Lisa Weinstein as new CEO. Weinstein will be responsible for increasing growth at the advertising tech company. She was previously the company’s president of global digital, data and analytics. [Crain’s]

Interior Define also brought on a new CEO. The customizable sofa company brought on Antonio Nieves to lead the 65-person team in Chicago. Nieves was most recently CEO of ModCloth. [American Inno]
